EV’ Ice Cream Sunday in Milan

On May 29th the seventh annual “Cornetto Free Music Festival’ took place in Milan. Sponsored by the ice cream makers Algida, the festival has become one of the most important and best-attended live festivals in all Italy. This year the festival drew over 100,000 music fans to the piazza in front of Milan’s magnificent cathedral, despite the 90-degree temperatures.

The event, emceed by Ambra Angiolini and Elio delle Storie Tese, featured international stars of the caliber of Avril Lavigne, Black Eyed Peas and John Legend, performing on a 150 x 45-feet stage, with two 60-feet square screens providing close-ups for the people at the back.

Renowned Milanese rental company Milano Music Service (MMS) were entrusted with the task of providing sound reinforcement for this mega spectacle, and both the client and the audience were delighted with the results. Supported by EVI Audio’s Italian partners, Texim, MMS’s engineers opted for a large Electro-Voice X-Line line-array system, along with EV amplifiers and audio management processors and EQs from Klark Teknik (see list below).

Milano Music Service (MMS) was founded in 1979 by Gigi Belloni and Riccio Colucci and has for many years now been one of the most highly respected and successful rental firms in Italy. MMS’s references include Paul McCartney, Elton John, Eros Ramazzotti and Miles Davis.
