“トイカメラ”というジャンルを日本に築き上げた、大森 秀樹氏 率いるクリエイティブ・チーム、株式会社パワーショベル。 「事務所作ったり、越したりする時、僕が一番初めに考えることは、スピーカは何を入れようということです」と話すのは、同社代表取締役の大森氏です。 Electro-Voiceシネマ・シリーズなど、ホール設備並みのラインナップが渋谷のオフィスに導入されました。 我々のシネマ・システムは正に映画館で使用しているものでして、これまで、ご自宅や小売店舗への設置例はあるのですが、オフィスに導入された例は初めてです。 ―チョイスされた経緯を教えていただけますか？ 「元々は10年くらい前に楽器店でEliminatorを買って、オフィスに置いていたことがあるんです。 屋号を立ち上げて、自社オフィスを持つときに一緒にスピーカも買おうと思ったんです。その前は、インド人に貰った変なスピーカを使ってたんです。それが破壊したので、今度は破壊しにくいのにしようということで、店頭でたまたま選んだのがEliminatorでした。 それがものすごく重宝したんですよ！全国の色んな場所に持っていったし、本当にあらゆる場面で使いましたね。小さなキャパから、ある程度のキャパまで使えたし、屋内でも屋外でも、DJイベントにも展覧会にも使えたので、どこにでも持っていきました。そして、未だに壊れない。それに、あれで聞くと良い音に聞こえるっていうのがいっぱいあるんです。それで、今回も“この”メーカーのが良いなと思ったんです。他のスピーカも置いてあるんですが、ガキガキしたドイツの音楽みたいな時はいいんですけど…気持ち良くないんですよね。大きな音像で流すときは、気持ち良いのが欲しいねと言ってたんです。 丁度そのタイミングで、ジャズ・レゲエの巨匠が来日するっていうので、うちの店でDJやって貰えるか聞いてみたら即答でOKだったんです。それには僕らも驚いて、『そんな巨匠に演って貰うのに、Eliminatorだけじゃあダメなんじゃないの？』となって、急遽、QRｘを購入したんです。仲間曰く、彼の音は渋谷中に鳴り響いたみたいですが、STOPは入らなかったですね」 ―カタログでシネマ・スピーカをご紹介した瞬間、即決いただいて非常に驚きました(笑)。 「僕はとにかく何でも業務用というのが大好きなんですよ(笑)。スピーカもカメラもそうなんですが、見た目が一番大事っていうか、見た目で気に入ったものでないと絶対良いようは聞こえないじゃないですか。シネマ・シリーズはカタログを見て、『これこれ！こういうデカいホーンのむき出しとか堪らない。この感じいいね』って決めたんですけど、スピーカに言及すると、むやみにデカいのとか堪らないですね！仕事の為に作ってるっていうのが好きなのかも知れませんね。僕は昔からずっと、発電所にあるようなボタンとかメーターがデザイン的に好きなんですよね。リビングに置いてあるのをイメージするものより、放送局に置いてますって感じ。 以前、ものすごくデカいA5とA7を全部で4本手に入れてるんです。その中の1本がすごく良くて、今でも気に入って事務所に置いてます。今風の音を流すと全然だめですけど、例えば、ブルースハープの音が耳を劈くように鳴るんだけど心地よさは失わないんです。ボーカルなんて、ボーカリストのでかい顔が目の前にあるんじゃないか！？くらいのリアルさで聞こえるんですね。店頭であんまり好きじゃないアーティストの音を聞いてたんですが、物っ凄く良かったんですよ。スピーカによって音があまりにも違うことに衝撃を受けましたね。久々に面白いなと感じました。 それで、その50年代くらいの流れが気になり始めて、色々試聴してみました。昔は絶対買えない値段ですから高値の花だったんですが、あるメーカーのものがずっと欲しくて欲しくて。その時の感覚で、最近のそのメーカーのも聞いたんですが、がっかりしたんです。もうその当時の音ではなかったですね。 シリーズでキャラクターが色々違うけれども、Electro-Voiceのスピーカはなんでもイケると思うんですよね。Electro-Voiceのデカいスピーカで聞く、デカい音っていうのは…やっぱ良いですよね。コンサート前の客入れ音楽がすごく良い感じで流れてるときがある、あの感じがちょうどElectro-Voiceのスピーカのように感じるんです。すっかりそういう系が好きになりました」 「僕は写真には強い思い入れを持っているんですけど、カメラに関しては、人が欲しいと思ってるものを作ってるつもりなんです。サービス精神に徹してやっています。このポジションもまた面白いですね。 僕は音楽が大好きなんですが、オーディオファンということはありません。音楽がある場というのが好きで、必要です。それは様々なシチュエーションで無くてはならないです」 ―昨年12月のイベントで感じたのですが、写真に求めるものと音に求めるものが似てらっしゃいませんか？ 「基本は一緒ですね。定義を決めないことがテーマでした。『どんなものでも良し』。 例えば、誰かが撮ったすごく良い1枚の写真があるとします。それを見たある人は、すごく懐かしい感じのする写真なんです。でも、また違う人が見たら、その1枚はすごく悲しい写真だったりする訳です。 写真ってシャッターを押せばそれですべて終わるんで、誰でも必ず写真は撮れます。誰が撮ったどんな写真でも、自分が撮ったかも知れない。という可能性がものすごくあるんですよね。誰かがこの部屋の電話機をカシャッと撮っても、「この写真って別に俺が撮った可能性もないことじゃない。たまたまその場に俺が居なくてシャッターを押してないだけで、これは俺が撮ったかもしれないんじゃない？」ということだらけなんですよ、写真って。そこが写真のすごく良い所ですよね。 音楽は、そういう関わり方が出来ないですが、それと同じように聞かせることが出来ると思ってます。例えば、映像と音があると両方の意味が作用するんで、組み合わせで違う音に聞こえたり、違う映像に見えたりしますよね。 僕らがよくやってるのは、映像と音を出して、終わった後に「人の人生一周したな」っていうものを目指しています(笑)。色んな映像と色んな音が出てきて、（これは俺が、見たかもしれないな。聞いたかもしれないな。体験したかもしれないな）という感覚。写真の繋がりや音楽に脈絡を持たせない。 例えば、赤ちゃんの次に、エロティックな写真を持って来ると、見る人は気に掛かるところが違うじゃないですか。違うからこそ、次に掛かる音の感じ方も違うし、次に出る映像の感じ方も違うから、最終的にものすごい違うことになるんです。体験し終わった後は、とにかく世の中色々複雑で、それを縦に切って見ることが出来る、感じることが出来る。これは音と写真の組み合わせでやると無限に出来るんです。 写真って面白くって、パラパラと見たものが案外頭に残っています。0.
