Bosch’s Communications Systems Division hosts Distributor Meeting in Natal, Brazil
Bosch’s Communications Systems Division’s family of Latin American and Caribbean distributors, retailers, and integrators recently gathered at the luxurious Serhs Resort in Natal, Brazil to attend the 2009 Latin America & Caribbean Distributor Meeting (LACDM). Guests at the event were introduced to the latest product lines from Communications Systems Division brands Bosch, Electro-Voice, RTS, and Telex from Aug. 12-14.
Like last year’s event, held in Cartagena, Colombia, the 2009 LACDM was a great success. The meeting brought 65 distributors together from across Latin America and the Caribbean for three days of presentations and entertainment. The event began with cocktails and introductions on Wednesday evening, while Thursday was dedicated to applications and presentations addressing a wide range of pro audio markets. The third and final day of the LACDM featured buggy tours through the dunes in Natal, with each vehicle proudly sporting a Bosch flag. Franck Fabry, Director of Export Sales, Americas, comments:
“The program covered live sound, MI, live concert sound, discothèques, theaters, movie theaters, conferencing, mass notification, house of worship, distributed sound, airports - everything. And, to give a real-world perspective of our products and partnership in action, each presenter used one of our projects from 2008 to show specific examples of the solutions our customers can provide with our equipment. We wanted to show that anybody can replicate these successes in their own backyard.
“This year we also brought in a successful distributor to talk about his applications,“ Fabry adds, “in addition to our internals, we wanted to include distributors with certain fortes to communicate the advantages of partnering with a company like Bosch. It was a very educational experience. We had a Bosch DCN discussion system at each table, so at any time anybody could ask a question. It was all very interactive, and that was the best part of the entire event this year.“
In addition to the hands-on Bosch discussion system and a Praesideo public address system installed in the venue, the LACDM also featured a variety of products from Electro-Voice, including XLD and XLE line arrays; EVA, EVH and EVF installed loudspeakers systems; Tour X, Sx, and Zx series portable powered and unpowered loudspeakers; and a compliment of EV microphones. CPS, Q Series, and Tour Grade amplifiers powered the systems, with state-of-the-art network control and processing via two NetMax N8000-1500 units. EV’s FIR-Drive system, using FIR filters for DSP, was of great interest, as were the super-efficient, powerful, and versatile TG series amps, equipped with RCM-26 DSP modules - the engines driving the entire networked audio system. Also present at the meeting was an RTS Zeus digital matrix intercom and a RadioCom wireless intercom system. Brazilian distributors TelePonto provided the demonstration equipment.
A presentation at the Presidential dinner before the final day of the LACDM recognized three companies that had been honored as Distributors of the Year in 2008. The award for Latin America Distributor of the Year 2008 for Electro-Voice went to TelePonto of Brazil, who experienced a growth of nearly 300 percent in 2008. Robert Klesser, Sales Manager, Brazil, comments:
“TelePonto’s fast-growing EV sales, their perfect organization, and their impressive demo setup at LADCM 2009 really shows that they have succeeded in becoming as successful in EV distribution as they already have been for years in Intercom. Antonio and the whole TelePonto team are a great bunch of people and I am sure they will continue to grow for many, many years. Parabens Teleponto!“
The award for Latin America Distributor of the Year 2008 for Bosch went to Proyecto Renta of Chile. Highlights for Proyecto Renta include the purchase of a brand-new Bosch conferencing system and new CRN membership.
“Proyecto Renta just became part of Bosch’s global Congress Rental Network this year,“ says Fernando Pérez Cárdenas, Andean South Sales Manager for Bosch. “They’re really boosting Bosch conference products in the Chilean market, and are currently doing events with Bosch products in several important hotels in Chile, like the Crown Plaza, Sheraton, and Atton.“
The award for Latin America Distributor of the Year 2008 for RTS and Telex went to ARS Technologies of Argentina, who recently signed a large contract with Argentine television station Canal 7. Juan Montoya, Sales Manager for Central & South America, Bosch, comments:
“ARS Technologies is our distributor not just for Telex/RTS but also for EV in Argentina. They earned the honor of Distributor of the Year for Telex/RTS thanks to a great year in which they significantly increased their sales. ARS is the leader in intercom technologies for Argentina, helping capture almost 90 percent of the market with products from Telex/RTS.“
“We at ARS Technologies have been working exclusively with Telex/RTS since 1985,“ says Ricardo Pousa, General Manager of ARS Technologies. “And, thanks to the collaboration between both companies, we have established Telex/RTS as the leading intercom brand in Argentina. TV channels, theaters, rental companies - everyone trusts our technical advice, post-sale services, and quality Telex/RTS products. The entire ARS Technologies team, Juan de Dobrzynski (Sound Division Chief), Martin Szneider (Pro Audio Manager), and Cintia Besanzini (Administration Manager) deeply thank Bosch and what this award represents.“
“It’s going to be very hard to match the success we’ve had this year,“ says Fabry. “I couldn’t have been happier with the quality of the people, the presentations, and the interaction at the conference. We’ll be hard-pressed to make next year’s meeting this successful, but we will!“
Next year’s LACDM will be held Aug. 2010 in Cancun, Mexico.
