Electro-Voice Rocks the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver

March 5th, 2010

With offices in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia, Rocky Mountain Production Services were perfectly positioned to deploy audio equipment for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. While many companies provided sound reinforcement services for the Games, Rocky Mountain’s Electro-Voice sound system for the snowboarding events on Cyprus Mountain near Vancouver was transported to one of most remote locations, making the lightweight, high performance EV XLD line array loudspeakers an excellent choice from a logistical perspective.

Designed to keep the crowd entertained before, between and after the events, the stage played host to a wide range of bands and DJs, making snowboarding the most rocking competition at the Games – no surprises there. Rocky Mountain’s PA design featured 12 Electro-Voice XLD281 line array elements and six Electro-Voice Xsub subwoofers, all powered by Tour Grade Series TG5 and TG7 amplifiers. Stage monitors, side-fills and front-fill loudspeakers were also EV, including the powered SXA series.
