LD Systems use EV X-Line™ Arrays and P3000 RL™ Remote Control Amps for Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at Reliant Stadium
Houston based LD Systems installed an extensive sound system at Reliant for the Rodeo, featuring 104 EV X-Line™ cabinets and 104 EV P3000RL™ remote controlled DSP power amplifiers to distribute clear, controlled audio to massive crowds of up to 72,000 people.
Running from March 1st through March 20th, the RodeoHouston™ entertainment schedule reads like a who’s who of Country music, with an equally impressive billing of pop, rock, R&B and Tejano acts. EV microphone endorser Neal McCoy performed on Thursday, March 3rd for “Armed Forces Salute“ day at the Rodeo, Hillary Duff broke attendance records on Sunday, March 6th for the first of many “Spring Break Stampede“ events, and stars of the stature of Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson, Brad Paisley and Lynyrd Skynrd performed during the following week. Perhaps the hottest ticket of the entire series was Kenny Chesney, the reigning King of Country, who performed on Wednesday, March 9. Chesney will begin an extensive tour of the US at the end of March, also featuring extensive amounts of X-Line and P-RL amplification. When combined with the attendance numbers from the Rodeo and the upcoming tour by number one selling artists Three Doors Down this Summer - also with sound provided by LD Systems - EV is set to help entertain millions of US concertgoers during 2005.
LD Systems Director of Production Services Robert Ausmus reported: “We recently added 60 EV P3000 RL™ amps and 58 EV X-Line™ Xvls™ cabinets to our extensive inventory of EV X-Line, XLC™ and X-Array™ loudspeaker systems. The principal reason for the system expansion was to add to LD’s touring capabilities, as well as serving existing customers for large-format events like the Houston Livestock Show Rodeo, for which we’ve been doing sound for 20 years. We’ve had a lot of success with our X-Line and RL systems over the past two years, touring with acts such as Three Doors Down, Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, Seether, Velvet Revolver and Shinedown. This purchase represents our commitment towards better serving the national touring market. Why EV? Quite simply, the sound. The X-Line is the most musical-sounding large-format line array I’ve heard. Things are sounding great night after night at the Rodeo concerts using a combination of 88 Xvls (90-degree long-throw) and 16 Xvlt (120-degree medium-throw) boxes. The low-end response is so good on these boxes, we didn’t need to fly subs. The sound quality, coverage and clarity of these loudspeakers is phenomenal.“
