Multiple EV’ Systems Installed at New Minnesota House of Worship

July 26th, 2005

AVI recently installed EV Xi loudspeakers, CPS amplifiers, RE2 wireless microphone systems, along with two Midas Venice consoles and Klark Teknik DN360 EQs, at a new Church in Mendota, Minnesota. AVI’s Ray Orieux explained the advantages of working with EV:

“This installation is in a newly constructed Sanctuary adjacent to the Church of St Peter, the oldest Catholic Church in Minnesota. They wanted the very best equipment available to bring high-tech A/V performance to their new space, and we worked with EV to make that happen. Aside from an extensive range of reliable, application-specific solutions for the House of Worship market, EV has a sales and technical support team that is second to none. Working with Jim Pfitzinger (Telex Pro Audio Group Sales), Telex rep Bob Sheffield (Starin Marketing) and Tech Support’s Robert Deyarmond meant we had full manufacturer support in every detail, from selecting products to match the Church’s budget and wide range of service and musical requirements, right through to an EASE model to confirm the performance characteristics of the Xi rig we specified.“

Orieux continued: “Two Xi-2123s and two Xi-1152s were installed for the house mix, and two more Xi-1152s were used for a separate choir system. EV CPS 2.11 and 2.6 amplifiers power the system. The ceilings in the 650-seat Sanctuary are about 35-feet high, with two large purlins running down the center (see photo). The EASE model helped us determine how the speakers would work with the architecture - these are powerful loudspeakers, yet they precisely cover the room with intelligible sound. At the other end of the scale, we installed around 30 EVID C8.2 recessed ceiling speakers in the Church’s large foyer and Heritage center. These are visually discrete loudspeakers that don’t interfere with the aesthetics of the church, which is full of granite and limestone surfaces. We’re also using 8 channels of RE2 wireless, and specified a number of the new ultra-low profile RE97Tx headworn condenser microphones, which are the lightest, most unobtrusive headworn mics available. For the main podium mic we’re using a Polar Choice multi-pattern gooseneck. Add the Midas Venice consoles and Klark Teknik EQs and DI boxes to the list and you have concert- quality sound and performance throughout the Church - the difference between the Venice and any other small-frame analog console is amazing. Things really sound as good as they look throughout St Peter’s - working with EV means we can specify the right product for the right space and application, and you can hear the difference that makes. We were really able to exceed the Church’s expectations by providing this level of attention to detail before, during and after the installation.“
