Sounds Great/SG Integration Install Extensive EV Loudspeaker System at Hammons Field, Springfield, MO

May 5th, 2005

Springfield, MO (May 2005): Sounds Great/SG Integration recently installed an extensive EV loudspeaker system at Hammons Field baseball stadium in their hometown of Springfield, Missouri. The new $32 million, 8056-seat ball park was completed in April 2004, and is home to both the Missouri State University Bears baseball team and, since April 12th, 2005, the Springfield Cardinals, AA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.SG General Manager and Senior System Designer Tony Bishop described this showpiece stadium installation:

“We are a design/build contractor, and I put together the initial design proposal for the system at Hammons Field, including all the EASE models and schematics. However, it was equally important for us to simply demonstrate how good the FRX+ boxes sound, so we brought some along for the stadium owners and officials to hear for themselves. They all liked what they heard as much as they liked what they saw on paper, and they now have the high-quality audio system they were looking for to do justice to this beautiful new stadium. EV is everywhere at Hammons Field, from the 16 main high-output FRX+™ 940PI (90-degree x 40-degree coverage) boxes to the dozen Sx300PI™s and 134 various model EVID™s installed throughout the suites, concourse areas and party decks. The owners of Hammons Field and the Cardinals are all very pleased with the results, as are the fans. Having good quality audio really elevates the whole ballgame experience.“

Bishop described the various loudspeakers installed at Hammons Field: “I’ve been familiar with the FRX+ boxes for a long time now, having been lucky enough to try out a prototype before they ever came to market. Ever since then, I’ve used the FRX+ on many installations in various applications where wideband directivity control is critical. Couple that with the fact that the PI models are genuinely weatherproof, and you have the perfect audio solution for this environment. The compact EVIDs and the Sx boxes combine sound quality, discrete aesthetics and weatherproof durability equally well, and are mounted throughout the stadium. We also installed a large amount of EVID C4.2 and C8.2 recessed ceiling speakers. All these loudspeakers are designed to provide optimal coverage and clarity, in whatever sized enclosure is appropriate to a certain architectural space, with whatever output is necessary for a certain area. EV’s compact loudspeaker models are designed and manufactured as equally high standards as the main boxes, and that is reflected in the overall audio experience at Hammons field. No matter where you are sitting, standing or walking, the playback is going to sound great.“

Bishop commented on why working with EV makes a difference: “I’ve been using EV equipment for about 20 years now. Working with EV allows us to provide this kind of application-specific attention to detail, both in terms of reliable product and excellent customer support. We have a very strong working relationship with our Telex Pro Audio Group rep Michael Tremain. We’ve always had our products on time and have always been able to meet our deadlines with EV. The build quality and consistency of the products has always been first-rate, and the factory support has always been good too. Because of this, when designing a system, I think of EV first. Ultimately, we’re a really service-oriented company, and we need to work with manufacturers who allow us to meet our customer-service goals. All these factors add up with Telex/EV, allowing us to provide the best systems solutions possible for our clients.“
