Telex Communications, Inc. has a Stellar Showing at Winter Namm 2005

February 8th, 2005

Burnsville, MN (January 2005): The pro audio brands under the Telex Communications corporate umbrella - EV, Dynacord, Midas and Klark Teknik - were represented by a plethora of exciting and innovative new sound solutions at the 2005 Winter NAMM show, held in Anaheim, CA, from January 20th through January 23rd.

Telex Communications’ prominence in pro audio industry was also writ large by the fact that EV co-hosted the biggest and most talked-about party of the weekend, Guitar World magazine’s 25th anniversary celebration at the Anaheim House of Blues (which features a full EV X-Array rig, a Midas Heritage console, and Klark Teknik equipment), featuring the king of modern metal guitar, Zakk Wylde & Black Label Society. Between the products and the partying – two essential ingredients for a successful NAMM showing – Telex had all the bases covered.

Visitors to the Telex Communications booth were introduced to a number of new microphone products from EV. The brand new EV Blue series Cardinal™ (cardioid condenser) and Raven™ (dynamic) made a particularly strong impression with their stylish looks. EV also introduced the latest addition to its world-renowned RE-Series of high performance microphones: the RE410™. Designed for professional concert sound or studio recording applications, the RE410 provides crisp, clear top-end and a sweet mid-range. The RE97™ omni-directional headworn and RE920Tx™ horn microphones were introduced as additions to EV’s renowned line of lightweight, super low-profile mics.

The release of the latest addition to the ZX line of loudspeakers, the ZX4™, caused quite a stir as a product aimed directly at the MI marketplace. Building on EV’s peerless reputation in the design and manufacture of molded-enclosure, high-performance loudspeakers, the ZX4 is a 15” two-way loudspeaker designed with main mix and monitor duties in mind. It features an integrated pole mount and, for varying stage depths, is capable of 45° or 55° angles via integrated monitor feet. ZX4 offers high output capability and high sensitivity in a remarkably lightweight (44.5lbs) and stylish package.

The ZX4’s jaw-dropping sound quality was demonstrated by Travis Larson and Jennifer Young of the Travis Larson Band, whose hourly performances provided a virtuoso vehicle for ZX4’s clarity and coverage. The most common comment from listeners was “which sub is this coming through?” The answer? None of them – ZX4’s low-end response was that impressive.

EV also continues to lead the pack in the highly competitive arena of line array design, upping the ante with the X-Line Very Compact™, which offers two principal system choices for different applications - the more compact single 8-inch XLE™ and the slightly larger, more powerful, double 8-inch XLD™. Each full-range line-array element features two ND2S™ compression drivers for maximum high-frequency headroom. Both systems can be combined with the matching XS212™ bass cabinet for low-frequency extension. The X-Line Very Compact left potential customers grinning at the portable possibilities, and competitors scratching their heads as they headed back to the drawing board!
