New Dutch Venue Set to Soar With EV, Midas & Klark Teknik

February 16th, 2006

With the De Waerdse Tempel, Marcel Appelman is fulfilling a personal dream. For over seven years, the Dutch entertainment professional has been working on realising his vision of a venue equally suitable for dance, theatre, heavy metal gigs, galas and pop concerts of every variety that would at the same time offer all one could wish for in terms of equipment, design and acoustics.

Situated in Heerhugowaard in the Netherlands, the De Waerdse Tempel can accommodate up to 2,500 visitors at a time, and, just two weeks before the opening, it is clear that it will set new standards on the Dutch club scene.

Sedulous planning by Marcel Appelman and his team triggered a hotly contested competition between the leading pro audio suppliers. Richard Verheugd and Remco Verhoek - who were responsible for the equipment in the De Waerdse Tempel - and club manager Harald Dijksstra settled in favor of the comprehensive solution offered by Electric-Audio B.V. and Midas Consoles Holland, specifying a system featuring EV XLC line arrays, Midas consoles and a variety of equipment from Klark Teknik. The installation took two and a half days, following careful simulations using EASE software.

A Live Club Without Compromises Axel Nagtegaal, head of Electric-Audio B.V. and Midas Consoles Holland, explained: “The planners had very clear ideas about the sound system they wanted: it had to be the best money could buy - the sound in the De Waerdse Tempel had to be as good as, if not better than, that offered by the world’s best clubs. At the same time, though, they wanted a system that was uncomplicated to use and from which reliability could be guaranteed. The Electro-Voice XLC system, combined with Midas desks and additional components from Midas and Klark Teknik satisfied these requirements.“

Axel Nagtegaal believes the installation in the De Waerdse Tempel will have far-reaching implications for the company: “This project represents more than just a high-caliber reference, because this was a club in which literally every audio supplier wanted to be represented. Therefore it was particularly satisfying that our products and services impressed the decision-makers the most. One thing I’m certain of is that the De Waerdse Tempel will soon be one of the leading live venues in all Europe.“
