ASCOT AUDIO FLAVORS VANILLA BAR WITH EV

Paul Knight of Ascot Audio has designed a sound system for the 400-capacity venue to enhance its clubby ambience. Since he’s been installing Electro-Voice sound reinforcement gear for over 20 years, there was always a good chance he’d choose products from the EV catalogue for this project, especially given the system requirements of the venue. But, as well as providing great sound, the all-white EVID loudspeakers Knight specified are an uncommonly good match for the stylish interior of the Vanilla Bar.

“These little speakers have a great design, they’re trendy and they look good, but they also sound fantastic; they’re amazingly good value for what they do,“ says Knight, who has fitted eight full-range EViD 6.2s throughout the Vanilla Bar, even installing smaller 3.2s in the toilets, to ensure coherent sound coverage throughout the venue. For the VIP bar, an awkward shaped room with tricky acoustics, Knight specified Electro-Voice S-40 compact monitors: “if there’s a better-sounding small box, I haven’t heard it,“ he says, “I’ve got these speakers in my studio and even in my car!“ Both models are powered by EV amplifiers.

And so into the nightclub element of the Vanilla Bar, where Ascot Audio has fitted an EV QRx 112/75 & QRx 118S combination for the main dancefloor. Each QRx 112/75 box has a P1200 amplifier channel to itself, and each QRx 118S sub is running off a bridged P2000 amplifier; “we’ve put twice as much amplification on the system as anyone will ever need, to ensure optimum frequency response and performance - it sounds fantastic.“
