COUNTRY CLUB HILLS CHOOSES EV

Designed by Tria Architecture, Inc., of Burr Ridge, Illinois, the city’s new 2100-seat Country Club Hills Theater is an outdoor venue par excellence, a combination of contemporary style, community-friendly design and cutting-edge AV systems that sets an example to any small town. At the heart of the concert experience is an EV XLD line array system-the first outdoor installation of EV’s latest line array in the USA-providing a level of sonic coverage and intelligibility that belies its super-compact size. In addition, the theatre features all-EV microphones and wireless systems, along with a Midas Verona FOH mixing console and Klark Teknik processing.

The sound system is a design/install by db Integrated Systems of Elgin, Illinois, whose President, James Wicker, reports: “The venue has two seating areas-a 600-seat bowl and a 1500-capacity upper lawn level. This is very much a community theatre, running anything from big name concerts to movie nights to local corporate and church group events, so the PA system needed to be versatile. The theatre sits next to a neighborhood, so noise was a concern; the XLD balances plenty of power and throw for full-frequency intelligibility throughout the venue’s seating areas with the controlled coverage necessary to prevent sound carrying far beyond the boundary fence. This is a six box per side concert quality PA that can also be easily handled for less demanding applications-it’s a perfect, multi-functional solution for this size and shape of venue, and the city loves the way it sounds.“
