Damon Johnson: EV Wireless Cuts Through on ALICE COOPER’S DIRTY DIAMONDS WORLD TOUR
Master of the macabre Alice Cooper’s Dirty Diamonds World Tour is underway, bringing legions of fans a show that splices classic Alice shock rockers like “Billion Dollar Babies“ and “Under My Wheels“ with on-par cuts from his latest offering, Dirty Diamonds - an “all killer, no filler“ platter that resonates with the twisted humor and thrilling theatrics that made Cooper one one of the top rock acts of the 1970s.
To meet his fans’ high expectations for stage and studio performances, Alice Cooper only tours and records with musicians worthy of the Alice Cooper Band name. The newest addition to the lineup is Damon Johnson, who joins longtime Alice axeman Ryan Roxie on guitar. Johnson, who fronted hitmaking hard rockers Brother Cane in the 90’s, uses EV wireless systems to ensure his tone stays true onstage, delivering all the raw nuances and crisp articulation the songs require.
Johnson says: “The classic Alice Cooper records are like an encyclopedia of great clean and overdriven sounds, tones teased and wrestled out of guitars and tube amps, rather than filtered through digital processing. This approach to tone has always been part of my style, and it’s important that none of that color gets compromised along the signal path. Also, an Alice Cooper show is pure energy, and I need a great wireless to get around on stadium stages. The RE1 allows me to deliver a full dynamic range of sounds and the freedom to be an entertainer. The goal of any wireless manufacturer is to have a system that acts like an invisible cord between instrument and amplifier, and EV have made it happen. Plus the RE1 is as reliable and rugged as it is easy to use. Having toured all over Australia, Europe and the USA with the system this year, I can say my RE1 has more than passed the audition!“
