MS Productions Invests in XLC & XLD
Lausanne-based rental company MS Productions recently expanded its already impressive inventory to include an extensive line-array system from Electro-Voice, purchased at the end of June from EV’s Swiss partner Audiotech. After extensive tests, the team led by managing director Luc Chassot decided in favour of 12 EV XLD 281 three-way enclosures, along with four EV XLC 215 and eight EV Xi-1191 subwoofers. “What impressed us above all about the system was its outstanding sound quality,“ explains Luc Chassot. “That was the most powerful argument in its favor. The fact it is also ultra-compact and therefore enormously versatile made this a pretty easy decision for us.“
The first test for the new PA came at the recently inaugurated St. Prex Festival at the end of August. A top-level cultural event featuring a high-caliber line-up, including the soprano Irène Maessen and dancers from the Béjart Ballet choreographed by Cecilia Mones-Ruiz and Mateusz Kowalek, the festival in this exquisite medieval village on the shore of Lake Geneva provided the EV XLD and XLC systems with a golden opportunity to demonstrate their sonic homogeneity. They did not disappoint. “Classical music that imposes the most stringent demands upon PA systems,“ says Chassot. “The clarity of reproduction is particularly important. The EV system passed the test with flying colors!“
That wasn’t only the view of the team from MS Productions and the festival organizers, but also of the concert-goers themselves. “Members of the audience were coming up to us after the show,“ recalls Chassot, “congratulating us upon the quality of the sound. Some went as far as to say they hadn’t realized the concert was even being amplified: ’it sounded like the sound was coming directly from the instruments.’ No higher praise of a PA system is possible!“
In the following weeks, the versatile new flagship of the MS Productions fleet has shown its mettle at a variety of quite different events, from shows starring the Swiss vocalist Pascal Auberson to rock and pop events of all descriptions, invariably satisfying not only the very high demands of MS Productions but also their clients. “Great performance, oodles of power and compact dimensions; for us, it’s the ideal system,“ concludes Chassot.
