EV and Blue Host Professional Microphone Seminar at World Renowned Studio in Toronto

August 12th, 2005

The Telex Pro Audio Group recently held two professional microphone seminars at world-renowned McClear Digital recording studios in Toronto, Ontario. The seminars - which covered the Electro-Voice, BLUE™, and EV/BLUE lines of recording and live microphones - were well attended by over 40 audio professionals from around Canada.

Telex Communications, Inc., already known for their portfolio of premium brands including Electro-Voice microphones, recently announced that they have become the distributor of BLUE™ Microphones for Europe, Canada, South America, Africa, Middle East, and most of Asia.

Led by Director of Business Development/Wired/Wireless Microphones and Assistive Listening, Tony Price, (Electro-Voice/EV/BLUE) and HEK Marketing’s Greg Hansen, the seminars brought live sound and recording professionals together for in-depth recording and listening. The seminars were also co-led by multi-platinum wunderkind producer/engineer Johnny K. of Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, Illinois. Johnny K., perhaps best known for his work with the band Disturbed, also produced/engineered Three Doors Down, Soil, Machine Head, Soil, Mushroom Head, and Finger 11. Johnny was on hand with Three Doors Down’s Universal Records Release Seventeen Days and Finger 11’s eponymous album to explain how he achieved his signature sounds with the very same microphones being tested at the seminar.

Johnny K. remarks: “I really like the entire line of EV, EV/BLUE, and Blue microphones. Speaking of the EV mics, I have always been a fan of the EV RE20 on tons of different stuff in the studio and I also know how well their live microphones perform. With regards to the BLUE mics that they’re currently distributing, I’ve used them all and I love them. Personally, I really think the MOUSE is one mic to have for a multitude of different uses. And, as far as the EV/BLUE Raven and Cardinal are concerned, they sound great - and at a nice price point. I would recommend these mics to everyone - from project studio to professional recording, not to mention their live uses...“

Tony Price, EV Director of Business Development/Wired/Wireless Microphones remarks: “The seminars were a great success. We spent the day with our customers - retailers, live sound engineers, and recording engineers - and were able to really educate them about our product lines by conducting a number of critical listening experiments. All involved left with a good idea of the actual differences among the EV, BLUE, and EV/BLUE microphones. The excitement was tangible and questions numerous. Johnny K. was a big help in helping everyone understand the various mics and their applications. His professional experience and vast understanding of microphones and microphone techniques was an asset to the seminar. We look forward to doing more seminars like this in the near future.“
