Spanish Parliament uses Bosch DCN Conferencing Equipment
A state-of-the-art Bosch Digital Conferencing Network (DCN) system was recently installed at El Palacio del Congreso de los Diputados (The Palace of the Congress of Deputies) in Madrid, Spain, bringing user-friendly, high-performance conferencing and discussion to the 159-year-old facility, which is used by the Congress of Deputies, one of two houses in the Spanish legislature.
The state-of-the-art Bosch DCN Next Generation network units were chosen by the Spanish government to optimize parliamentary procedure and create an efficient work environment for all members of parliament, who use the new units for voting, discussions, presentations, and a variety of other functions. Along with exceptional ease-of-use, the system also offers the Congress of Deputies the aesthetic refinement necessary to blend in to an historic national parliament building. The installation at the 350-seat chamber seamlessly combines modern technology and traditional architecture, with each Bosch DCN console blending in perfectly with the hall’s neoclassical style.
When it comes to simple operation, the DCN Next Generation system is unparalleled, with convenient touch screen control and smooth, high-quality microphone performance. The straightforward features of the Bosch DCN also allow the president to easily manage voting procedures and speech time settings. Two large 103“ flat panel plasma public display screens on each side of the hall work with the system to display voting results after each session, manage time for voting duration, and show live or pre-recorded information. An accompanying HP network is designed to serve the members with parliament information and documentation, messaging, and to organize their files in an MS Office environment. Parliament can also open files from network locations (congreso-network) and local locations (USB thumb drive). The system will also allow access to the Internet, intranet, and congreso web-mail.
The DCN Next Generation system contains one Central Control Unit (CCU) with PC control connection operating on the Spanish Windows XP Pro platform, and facilitates all applications necessary to run all required disciplines - microphone management, parliamentary voting, attendance registration, open interface, delegate database, text/status display, video display, and synoptic microphone control.
Each delegate unit has been customized to individual specifications, and comprises a flush-mounted voting unit, flush-mounted microphone control panel, microphone with a 460 mm swing stem, data connection panel, loudspeaker panel, and a 15“ flat LCD monitor flush-mounted in a metal anodized frame.
