EV SOLVES SOUND PROBLEMS AT INDIANA HIGH SCHOOL
The auditorium at Griffith High School, Griffith, IN, has a new lease on life, thanks to a new EV sound system. Bridgewater Custom Sound, a Division of Tri-Electronics, Inc., in consultation with Mr. Bob Sheffield (of EV reps Starin Marketing), reviewed the existing auditorium space to determine an effective loudspeaker system to precisely address and enhance the functionality of the space. “Through modeling the main room and the two wing annexes, we determined that the Xi Series from Electro-Voice was the optimal solution in terms of cost vs. performance,” reported Scott Voorhis, Sales Manager,
Bridgewater Custom Sound.
The system design features a main loudspeaker center cluster comprised of two Xi1152A/94F loudspeakers; overflow wings / annexes are each covered by one Xi1122A/85F loudspeaker. The coverage and mounting were modeled in EASE to ensure proper selection and design coordination with the owner. The loudspeakers are bi-amplified with the goal of adding additional subwoofer cabinets in the future.
“The existing cabling to the FOH mix position was all done loose, laid over carpeting,” Voorhis added. “This was not only an aesthetic problem, it was a hazard. We provided new surface raceway for routing down from the amplifier and loudspeaker processing rack to a new trench in the existing auditorium floor. While that work was being completed, the owner constructed a new FOH mix position booth to expand their rack space and workstation surface area. The existing mixing console was reused, with new Klark Teknik KT Square ONE Graphic EQ’s implemented at the FOH position for insert EQ.”
The loudspeakers are amplified and processed by the CPS Series amplifiers and DX38 processors. The system was completed during the summer break in 2006 and showcased during the district teacher’s meeting prior to the opening of the Fall semester. “The system received many complements from staff and district administration,” Voorhis added. “The auditorium director is very pleased with the system, which has provided them the ability to raise the level of performance in their facility and generate additional fiscal dollars to be used for future enhancements.”
