GEEZER BUTLER TOURS “HEAVEN AND HELL” WITH EV

Mike Clement, Black Sabbath’s chief tech, first installed 12L and 15Ls into Butler’s custom cabinets—built by a major MI manufacturer specifically for that purpose—back in 1992. Butler’s current enclosures are from another similarly renowned manufacturer, built to the same specs. The fresh 12L Classics join their seasoned counterparts to fill a total of four 4x12 enclosures. All four of the EV 15L series speakers (in two 2x15 enclosures) installed in ’92 are still delivering the goods.

 

“Geezer has been using this rig since the Dehumanizer Black Sabbath tour (also with Ronnie James Dio) in 1992,” says Clement. “The fact that most of the original EV speakers are still working perfectly is proof of their quality and durability. The rig is really built around them. We’ve had two major manufacturers make us cabinets, but one thing that doesn’t change is what we put inside them. EV speakers are built tough for this level of touring … they outlived the first set of cabs they were in, which says it all."
