Las Vegas, NV, June 18, 2008: Electro-Voice has been building the world's most trusted touring sound systems since the industry began. Tour X condenses every ounce of EV’s tour-proven engineering expertise into a complete line of multi-purpose loudspeakers designed to deliver the ultimate audio experience for portable or installed applications.

Many an influential industry professional has been overheard describing how loudspeaker design and technology has reached critical mass. EV sought to prove them wrong with Tour X, which boasts a host of unique, revolutionary features that add up to make it the most exciting loudspeaker line available today—a new chapter in EV’s 80-year history of sonic excellence.

Comprised of the TX1122 (12” two-way), TX1152 (15” two-way), TX1181 (18” sub), TX2152 (dual 15” two-way), TX2181 (dual 18” sub), TX1122FM (12” dedicated monitor) and TX1152FM (15” dedicated monitor), each model in the Tour X line seamlessly balances aesthetic form and road-ready functionality.

Strength and beauty
EV’s revolutionary patent pending Backbone Grille design isn’t just about a contemporary, distinctive look; it also has an entirely functional goal: strength. Just as bridges rely on the strength of the curvature of an arc, the uniquely shaped Backbone Grille resists denting and abuse much more effectively than traditional designs utilizing heavy grille blocks and bracing.

Ergonomic innovation
Not content with sourcing the same old handles and input panels that most loudspeaker manufacturers use, EV decided to design their own. The incredibly comfortable ergonomic handle is an ultra-sonically welded design that is impervious to air and water leaks—two things that can quickly degrade loudspeaker performance and longevity. The new oversized angled input panel is superior to similar designs in that it gives larger hands more room for connecting and disconnecting NL4 connectors.

Transducer technology
Known as a worldwide leader in transducers, EV has once again raised the bar for woofer performance. The breakthrough SMX Series has achieved what other designers can only dream of: a woofer that is virtually distortion-free without the traditional sacrifice in sensitivity. The well behaved and linear parameters of these woofers have an additional benefit: the ability to design and implement a passive crossover network that utilizes elliptical filters with up to 36dB per octave slopes at the crossover frequency, matching the performance of many of today’s advanced electronic digital processors.

Functional construction
Tour X dedicated vertical monitors are more than just another attempt at standard wedge design. The split baffle construction employs patent-pending SST (Signal Synchronized Transducers) technology. A split baffle creates two very important benefits: moving the acoustic origins of the compression driver and woofer close together, and the split in the baffle becomes the port, allowing the entire enclosure to become much more compact. The result is “signal synchronized” with near perfect phase summation!
