Electro-Voice makes it three in a row at Glastonbury Festival

APR Audio reports another successful Glastonbury Festival, supplying Electro-Voice X-Line and XLC systems for the third year, and winning not only praise but a repeat booking for 2009!

As last year, APR Audio provided sound reinforcement for the Jazz World Stage, often described as one of the best-sounding venues of the legendary festival. This year’s system deployed ten X-Line Xvls and two Xvlt per side, with ten Xsubs per side ground-stacked on towers, and another 12 Xsubs on the floor. Front-fills were handled by six XLE cabinets.

All amps were P3000RLs running IRIS-Net. The FOH console was a Midas XL4, with a Heritage 3000 onstage with Helix and a Rapide for EQ. Wedges were EV Xw15 with drum and side-fill provision from X-Array systems.

APR’s Matt Gunter was on hand as Crew Chief and primary system designer for a busy stage that hosted the Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Eddy Grant, Buddy Guy, and Estelle.

“Jazz World is generally regarded as the musicians’ stage,” according to Matt Gunter; “this is where the real musical talent plays, and I suppose we do go the extra mile for them. But this stage is respected by the performers, engineers, and audience because of the consistency of the sound. Jazz World uses the same PA every year, and we bring good experienced crew.”

APR Audio also supplied an XLC system for the Cinema Field, flying 15 XLC-127DVX, with three units on the ground for centers. Again, all the amplification was provided by P3000RL models running IRIS-Net. “This was a major improvement on the system we gave them last year,” adds Gunter, “and on the Friday night, I had already received a text from the field saying how blown away they were with the system, and suggesting we did it again in 2009!”
