Big Bang Theory

Formed in 2006, “Big Bang Theory” is a Japan-based urban duo featuring singer Row and emcee Ra-U. Together the two performers use a combination of soulful backbeats and smooth melodies to create their unique sound.

Ra-U
During a lengthy stay in Canada from the age of 14 to 22, Ra-U was deeply influenced by Vancouver’s hip-hop culture, and began to experiment with rap music. He soon discovered a passion and talent for performing and Ra-U officially began his career in 1995 when he was selected as an opening act for local Canadian artist “Ghetto Concept.”

Ra-U rose to prominence in Vancouver, but remained actively involved in the charity organization HH4H (Hip Hop for Hunger) by providing a Japanese song for a medley album. When he returned to Japan, Ra-U’s musical style – a blend of hip-hop, funk, soul, and rock – was highly sought after. His reputation led to subsequent performances and nationwide tours with artists Gagaga SP, Stanspancs, Sex Machine, and Sambomaster.

Ra-U has since put performing on hold to concentrate on a career as an MC, and is currently involved in other activities including opening for Asami (feat. Dabo) and songwriting for Hime, for whom he wrote the song “Hook.”

Row
Row first experienced African-American culture while playing basketball in junior high school, and became more and more interested in the art of hip-hop. Row immersed himself in the study of urban music, listening feverishly to whatever music he could. Row first made a name for himself as a hip-hop vocalist after a work colleague invited him to join a group and their outdoor live performances and club performances received positive reviews.
