Commercial Compression Drivers

For decades, the University Sound Series commercial compression drivers from Electro-Voice have been the standard whenever the need for effective, efficient, and intelligible long-distance audio arises. EV offers a wide range of drivers, including dual-output models and explosion-proof rated products. All EV drivers provide extended frequency-response and exceptional power handling for long-term operation in any environment.

All University Sound Series drivers include high-temperature voice coils and heavy-duty construction for extended reliability. They are designed for compatability with several different medium-format paging horns for optimum performance. Both 30 and 60-watt models are available.

The 1828C/T is a 30-watt, heavy-duty, convertible driver designed for use with compound-diffraction horns. Designed for general public address applications l Weather-resistant for outdoor or indoor use l Dual, one-inch, screw-on exit l Wide-frequency response l Comes with threaded plug to convert to a conventional driver.
The 1829BT is a 60-watt, heavy-duty, convertible driver designed for use with compound diffraction horns. Designed for general public address applications l Weather-resistant for outdoor or indoor use l Dual, one-inch, screw-on exits l Wide-frequency response l Comes with threaded plug to convert to a conventional driver.
The 7110XC is a 30-watt, explosion-proof driver that will not create a spark or detonate in an explosive atmosphere. Integral, sintered bronze, acoustic screen and a heavy, die-cast, aluminum case meet UL standards for explosion-proof classification. The 7110XC meets and exceeds standards for use in hazardous areas classified as Class I - Groups B, C and D. Dual, one-inch, screw-on exits l 8-ohm impedance l Driver housing is designed to contain a University Sound 5030 transformer for 20/70.7-volt distributed systems l Transformer purchased separately.

The CFID32-T is a 32-watt paging projector designed for high speech intelligibility under adverse ambient conditions. Low distortion and smooth frequency response make the CFID32-T a good choice for background music in indoor or outdoor applications. The CFID32 Series comes in weather-resistant gray and offers diffraction effect for wide, horizontal dispersion. The CFID32-T features a 330 Hz to 4.2 kHz frequency response, integral swivel bracket, and a weather-sealed, gland-nut connection.
The Cobraflex IIB is a folded sectoral horn for all driver models in the 1824S, 1828, 1829, ID30, and ID60 Series, and the 7110XC. This horn features a patented design that eliminates high-frequency phase cancellation and improves intelligibility. The Cobreflex IIB provides an 80 degree x 60 degree dispersion, comes in weather-resistant gray, and includes an integral mounting bracket. It provides high-efficiency and low cutoff frequency in a compact package.
The Cobraflex III is a folded sectoral horn for all driver models in the 1824S, 1828, 1829, ID30, and ID60 series, and the 7110XC. This horn features a patented design that eliminates high-frequency phase cancellation and improves intelligibility. The FC100 is a compound diffraction horn comprising two sections for use with 1828 or 1829 Series drivers. The folded construction of the rear horn, coupled with the smaller dimensions of the front horn, provides extended frequency response and cleaner sound. The FC100 comes in weather-resistant gray, and includes an integral mounting bracket. It features compound diffraction design, a wide coverage pattern, and 150 degree H x 110 degree V  dispersion at two kHz.
The ID30C/ID30CT is a 30-watt, heavy-duty driver for re-entrant horns. This driver is designed for use in applications that require continuous, high-level, acoustic output such as high-level public address. The ID30C/ID30CT features rugged, weather-resistant, phenolic diaphragms, indoor and outdoor packaging, and a one-inch, screw-on exit.
The ID60DT is a 60-watt, heavy-duty driver for re-entrant horns. This driver is designed for use in applications that require continuous, high-level, acoustic output such as high-level public address. The ID60DT features rugged, weather-resistant, phenolic diaphragms, indoor and outdoor packaging, and a one-inch, screw-on exit.
The MIS8C is a 10-watt paging and talkback projector with a compact design for flush-mounting on walls and cabinets. It is Ideally suited for paging and general communication applications. The gray MIS8C features 100 degree dispersion and eight-ohm impedance.
The MM2 is a 25-watt, submergence-proof design (U.S. Navy specification), with a serrated mounting bracket that allows for a 90 degree swivel. The MM2 is ideal for use near water or spray. The gray MM2 features an 82 degree x 82 degree dispersion pattern and 16-ohm impedance. Each unit is fully protected against damage from high humidity, salt water and other environmental conditions.
The MM2F is a 25-watt, submergence-proof, paging projector (U.S. Navy specification) designed for flush-mounting in a bulkhead or wall. The MM2F is ideal for use near water or spray. The gray MM2F features an 82 degree x 82 degree dispersion pattern and 16-ohm impedance. Each unit is fully protected against damage from high humidity, salt water and other environmental conditions.
The University Sound series MM2TC is a conservatively rated, 25-watt, submergence-proof speaker designed for wall, ceiling, or bulkhead mounting. The driver employs a diaphragm with a phenolic, impregnated linen-base and two-inch voice coil with W-shaped, Alnico V magnet structure. Provisions are made in the housing for installation of a 30-watt matching transformer. The voice-coil and diaphragm assembly is protected by a special anit-fungicide treatment, and is easily accessible for cleaning by removal of the die-cast reflector on the front of the speaker. The MM2TC is self-draining and designed to withstand fungus, dust, salt spray, live steam, and gases. It is built to penetrate high noise levels in boiler rooms, mines, and railroads.
The PA430/PA430T is designed to provide constant dispersion over a two kHz to 10 kHz range, reducing the number of horns needed to cover an area. The tan, weather-resistant PA430 features a 60 degree x 40 degree dispersion pattern, and an integral swivel bracket. The PA430 is available in either a eight-ohm version (PA430) or a 30-watt, 70/100-volt version (PA430T).
The PA60 weather-resistant projector is an excellent choice for any outdoor or indoor public address or paging application where reliability and durability are paramount. The driver employs a rugged, phenolic diaphragm, and a “rim-centered,” ferrite, magnetic structure for dependability under extreme operating conditions. The PA 60 features a durable ABS horn and a die-cast, zinc, integral swivel mount. The tan PA60 provides an 80 degree x 50 degree dispersion pattern and eight-ohm impedance.
The UW30 underwater speaker is equipped with a waterproof, three-conductor, 50-foot cable. It features eight-ohm impedance, and is available in pool blue. Underwater speakers are required by the American Athletic Union for synchronized swimming events and instructions in Olympic pools. They are also ideal for water ballets or similar water shows and resort or private pools. Built for installation in both fresh and salt water pools, the UW30 can even be safely installed in ocean environments. The speaker is designed for permanent installation and completely submerged operation. Problems such as corrosion and electrolysis damage are completely eliminated by plastic construction. The 12.7-ounce ceramic magnet and state-of-the-art voice-coil construction ensure high-fidelity response with low distortion throughout the power range. One speaker is recommended for pools up to 30 feet x 30 feet, or two speakers for pools up to 30 feet x 60 feet.
