ZX Series

The Advanced Generation of Versatile, High-Performance, Lightweight Speakers.

Building upon decades of experience manufacturing lightweight, molded enclosures with high-end components, ZX loudspeakers comprise a new family that takes audio technology to the next level. New, high-power woofers and drivers, contemporary styling, and innovative mechanical solutions for all permanent installation and mobile stage applications make ZX the new standard in lightweight sound.

ZX Series

The Electro-Voice® ZX1 is a high-performance, compact loudspeaker with a lightweight, durable, high-tech enclosure. The ZX1's enclosure geometry has been engineered to provide maximum rigidity and acoustic performance. The velocity compensated port design overcomes the limitation of many small loudspeakers and enables exceptional low-frequency response without vent noise. The ZX1’s long excursion, high-output, eight-inch woofer with weather-treated cone delivers smooth, low-frequency performance with exceptional reliability. A sophisticated crossover network integrates the ZX1 with the EV DH2005, a one-inch, exit-true compression driver with extended frequency response and high-output capability. Full-bandwidth overload protection is provided for reliable, long-term operation without audible effect.
The Electro-Voice® ZX1i is the new standard of uncompromising audio performance and versatility in an easy-to-install, compact sound reinforcement package. The ZX1i's enclosure geometry has been engineered to provide maximum rigidity and acoustic performance. The velocity compensated port design allows for exceptional low-frequency response without vent noise. ZX1i installation is incredibly simple with the included QuickSAM mounting system. The QuickSAM system is a unique, integrated mounting bracket that is virtually foolproof. It allows installers to simply snap the speaker onto the bracket, and tighten it to the desired position. For array mounting, an optional array bracket kit is available, which allows multiple units to be mounted together for a variety of configurations. All Zx1i "t" versions use a special circuit that, when in transformer mode, re-configures the network to a current-actuated, Hi-Pass filter at the transformer primary. It gently rolls off the lowest frequencies to maintain a safe load on the amplifier without affecting higher (vocal) frequencies and the program continues without interruption. Low-frequency current is limited through the transformer-eliminating low-frequency saturation. Automatic Saturation Compensation allows many speakers to be run on a distributed line with a 50Hz Hi-Pass filter before the amplifier, regardless of the number of speakers on the same line (the number of tapped watts cannot exceed the amplifier rating). With the same 50Hz Hi-Pass, 10 speakers on transformers will have the same full sound as a single speaker at eight ohms.
The Electro-Voice® ZX3 offers an unprecedented level of lightweight, 12-inch, two-way, loudspeaker performance for the widest variety of portable and installed applications. Featuring the new DVX3121 12-inch woofer and the ND2 neodymium compression driver, the ZX3 continues the groundbreaking innovation of the EV DVX woofer program, joining the ranks of EV's ZX series between the eight-inch ZX1 and the 15-inch ZX5.When it comes to problem and solution versatility, the ZX3 is in a class of its own. In addition to the highest performance drivers available, a complete range of optional accessories, including the CB-5 array kit, MB3 wall and ceiling-mount bracket, HA-3 handle adapter for use with the VSA-1 strong arm mount, and TCA-1 truss clamp adapter allow the ZX3 to be easily and precisely configured in multiple box arrays, mounted on trusses or tripods, deployed as monitors, or used as system mains with a subwoofer.Housed in a stylish yet rugged injection molded enclosure, the ZX3 shares the same functionality as the larger ZX5, with 90 degre x 50 degree or 60 degree x 60 degree horn dispersion patterns, 45 degree or 55 degree monitor angles, passive or biamp operation, and seven M8 rigging points. The ZX3 is available in a weatherized version and in either a black or white finish. An optional HDC-3 heavy-duty stackable cover is also available.
The Electro-Voice® Zx4 is designed mainly for portable applications such as performing artist, musicians, and small bands. And with an integral pole-mount, the Zx4 is ready for any main mix application. To accomodate different stage depths, the Zx4 incorporates retractable monitor feet. This allows the Zx4 to be used as a stage monitor with a 45 degree or 55 degree angle. Every musical detail can be reproduced, from extended highs to powerful lows. The DH3 compression driver, with its pure titanium diaphragm, coupled with the Zx4’s large 90 degree x 50 degree horn allows for tremendous intelligibility and pattern control. The 15-inch, low-frequency EVS15-SF delivers tight, low bass and outstanding power handling capacity. The rugged enclosure of the Zx4 is perfect for portable applications, while the stylish design gives it appeal in even the trendiest of environments. At only 44.5 lbs (20.2 kg), the lightweight Zx4 allows ease of transport and set up.
The Electro-Voice® Zx5 is a 15-inch, two-way cabinet with the most elegant, high-impact, composite enclosure, featuring the newest generation of EV components: the all-new DXV3150 500-watt, 15-inch woofer and the all-new, two-inch neodymium ND2 compression driver. The Zx5 is rated for 600-watt, long-term power handling and is able to produce high SPLs while providing a very smooth frequency response. With two available coverage patterns (60 degree x 60 degree or 90 degree x 50 degree), two adjustable monitor angles (45 degrees or 55 degrees) and ten built-in rigging and suspension points allow for a variety of mounting accessories, the Zx5 fits a variety of applications such as installations of individual speakers or clusters in entertainment, houses-of-worship, as well as on stage with bands, musicians, and PA rental companies.
The Electro-Voice® ZXA5 combines the performance of DVX and ND2 with a high-output, dual-channel, integrated amplifier. Effortlessly delivering a continuous 250 watts to high-frequency and 1,000 watts into the low-frequency, the ZXA5 boasts an unprecedented power-to-weight ratio, and performance that is unmatched by powered systems that cost twice as much. In addition to its incredible sonic abilities, the ZXA5 retains all of the functionality of the passive ZX5 in terms of accessories, mounting options, and multi-angle monitors.
