Electro-Voice launches EVERSE 8 weatherized battery-powered loudspeaker with Bluetooth audio and control

Electro-Voice has launched the EVERSE 8, a weatherized battery-powered loudspeaker with Bluetooth audio and control, in a global introduction on October 25, 2022. It is the first battery-powered loudspeaker from Electro-Voice and the first weatherized model of its type.

EVERSE 8 is built as a self-contained PA for live music, vocal reinforcement, and audio playback. Musicians, DJs, production and rental companies, and fitness and activity instructors are among the users it targets. It ships in a black or white finish.

EVERSE 8 carries a maximum SPL rating of 121 dB and a wide, even 100º x 100º coverage pattern. Core components include an 8" woofer mounted using Electro-Voice's patented SST (Signal Synchronized Transducers) port design, and a high-output titanium tweeter on a custom constant-directivity waveguide.

The loudspeaker is driven by a high-efficiency Class-D amplifier and a DSP module developed with the audio electronics engineering team at sibling brand Dynacord. Pro features include a built-in four-channel digital mixer with studio-quality effects and processing, 48 V phantom power, feedback suppression, and audio ducking. As with all Electro-Voice portable loudspeakers, system reliability is verified with extensive music abuse and endurance testing.

A custom-designed high-capacity Li-ion battery pack provides up to 12 hours of run time. Protection circuitry reduces the risk of the battery discharging to a voltage so low that it can no longer be recharged — for example, after long periods in storage — and tool-free screws make removing the battery pack effortless.

Wireless control and monitoring run through the QuickSmart App, which adjusts all audio, effects, and mix functions from a phone or tablet. An integrated 12 V DC port draws power from the EVERSE 8 battery to run a wireless microphone system such as the Electro-Voice RE3 or R300, using the optional accessory tray to secure receiver hardware. For stereo setups, EVERSE 8 supports Bluetooth true wireless stereo streaming, and a charging port is included for mobile devices.

An ergonomically designed soft-touch handle and lightweight construction make EVERSE 8 easy to move and mount — on a tripod, set long-side-down as a stage wedge using the 55° monitor angle, or upright with the 30° kick-back angle. Built-in feet with no-skid rubber pads keep the system in place.

With its rugged polypropylene enclosure and the included weatherized input cover, EVERSE 8 meets the IP43 rating (water resistant for splashes and light rain) when running on battery power and Bluetooth streaming, making it suited to outdoor use such as busking, marching band practice, or a backyard event. An optional tote bag holds the accessory tray, weather cover, wireless mic and receiver, an extra battery, XLR and power cables, and mobile devices. EVERSE 8 is available now.
