Straubing, Germany, February 2020 – Electro-Voice is pleased to introduce the EVC-1122-VI EN 54 variable-intensity (VI) loudspeaker – a new version of the EVC-1122-VI model that is EVAC certified for emergency voice alarm systems. It features an innovative 12“ two-way design in which the mounting angle of the woofer and the downward-facing asymmetrical waveguide work together to evenly cover a rectangular audience area – with almost no variation in sound quality and minimal change in level – from a single loudspeaker system. Housed in a low-profile enclosure that can tuck neatly into corners and under ceilings and soffits, the model extends the EVC series of compact loudspeaker solutions for fixed installation, and adds to EV’s portfolio of full-fidelity EN 54 loudspeaker system solutions.

The EVC-1122-VI utilizes EV-engineered drivers and a unique compound waveguide, each designed with the latest acoustical and multiphysics modeling tools. The high-frequency section comprises a single 1.25” titanium dome compression driver directly coupled to the waveguide, which combines long-throw and short-throw behavior in a single acoustical device. This waveguide creates uniform pattern control and smooth, linear response. The low-frequency section employs a high-output woofer developed using state-of-the-art, computer-aided optimization to provide low distortion, high efficiency and maximum intelligibility at high sound pressure levels. The passive crossover implements a modified fourth-order design with slopes of 24 dB per octave for smooth off-axis response and improved definition through the critical vocal range. The EVC-1122-VI will serve as a natural, articulate speech system that also does double duty as an impressive music system.

The dimensions of the coverage area are determined entirely by the mounting height and aiming angle of the loudspeaker. For precise results, the EVC-1122-VI has three M10 rigging points as well as attachment points for an optional U-bracket that can be mounted to the ceiling or the wall behind the loudspeaker. The enclosures are constructed of high-grade plywood and are finished with EVCoat for enhanced durability. Black and white finishes are available. Input connectors accept wire gauges up to 10 AWG (5.26 sq. mm).

EN-54 versions of these EVC loudspeakers ship with the high quality Electro-Voice TK-150 audio transformer pre-installed. The TK-150 works in conjunction with EV's patented Automatic Saturation Compensation (ASC), which preserves low frequency performance while presenting a stable load to the amplifier, regardless of how many loudspeakers are connected in parallel.
