The kid from Gangtok starts a band

Most people grow up dreaming about rockstar life. Girish Pradhan actually built one — starting in the northeast of India, at the feet of the Himalayas, and ending up trading riffs with the guys from Megadeth and sharing a stage with Guns N' Roses. Along the way, he picked up a mic he swears by, and that's basically how this story starts: Girish is now rocking with Electro-Voice as a brand ambassador in India.

Back in 2009, Girish started Girish and The Chronicles (GATC) in Gangtok, Sikkim, with zero interest in playing it safe. The band's sound is pure classic rock and 80s hard rock energy — big riffs, bigger choruses, the kind of music that sounds best loud. Eventually the band packed up and moved to Bengaluru, which is where you'll find them now.

Fast forward through three studio albums — Back On Earth, Rock the Highway, and Hail to the Heroes — and GATC became the first Indian band to land a multi-album deal with Frontiers Records. Not bad for a group that started out playing small-town shows.

Rapid ascent to fame

Since 2009, Girish and The Chronicles have been on one long, glorious rock 'n' roll road trip — proof that a band from the Himalayas could absolutely shred on a global stage. Just when you think they can't top themselves, 2023 has them opening for Guns N' Roses in Abu Dhabi, and 2024 sees them crisscrossing Europe like rock royalty while unleashing the heavier, Nepali-infused anthem "Kaal."

And then, in true underdog-makes-good fashion, 2025 finds them stunning judges on America's Got Talent with a hard-rock spin on Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" — four yeses and a standing ovation later, GATC proved that this "little band from Gangtok" energy is unstoppable.

Why EV microphones just make sense

For a guy who's constantly on a stage somewhere — his gear has to keep up with him. Girish's whole vibe is big, raw, electrifying vocals night after night, city after city, country after country. That's exactly the kind of demand Electro-Voice gear is built for: dependable, road-ready, and made for performers who can't afford their sound to flake out mid-show.

So when Girish shows up in the crowd's memory as the guy who sounded incredible live, that's not an accident — it's the gear doing its job while he does his. It's less "brand deal" and more "this is just what he actually uses."
